It’s been almost one year since I first saw and heard Elbow perform at Coachella 2011. It was definitely a highlight of the festival. To say I was excited to see them again here in Brisbane a year later is an understatement. The opportunity to shoot them, even more so.
Supported by Bombay Bicycle Club, Elbow played a superb set to a sold-out crowd. Despite a few technical hiccups, Guy Garvey was in fine form, leading the enthusiastic audience through the bands collection of finely crafted songs. Bombay Bicycle Club also delivered a decent opening set.
Fortunately, Elbow kicked off with three relatively long songs, translating into more pit time. The lighting was generally very good, albeit pretty heavy with blues and purples at times. The Tivoli is quickly becoming a favourite live music venue.
